Do you think it is damaging to our economy?
What it’s damaging to is my ability to get even halfway decent customer service when I call any company for help.
Just last week, I had to call for help setting up a wireless router.
"Hello. My name is Taylor."
Bullsh*t. Your name is Tayloramakrishna and I can’t udnerstand a word you’re saying. Can you please transfer me to an English speaking analyst?
I know exporting jobs to India saves companies money, which makes sense when you consider that with the demise of quality customer service in this country they’re beholden only to their stockholders, not to their customers.
Me, I’d have paid an extra buck for the router if I knew I’d be able to get help from someone who speaks my language.

I think it is an attack on our economics and if allowed to continue on its current path it will eventually undermine our work force and put thousands more into lower paying jobs or no jobs at all.

"Outsourcing" is one of the many advantages that corporations utilize to increase profits. Thanks to globalization multi national companies’ bottom lines have been humongus and will continue this uptrend.
It is ‘damaging’ because job opportunities are reduced at home while increasing them for foreign countries. But the argument is that most of the type of jobs outsourced to foreign countries are labor-intensive – and since countries like India, China, Thailand (all with huge populations) can do the jobs for a fraction of the cost, it would be foolish not to go offshore. Savings for corporations run into billions of dollars. Do you think they will pass it on to the consumers? Corporations have only one objective: TO INCREASE PROFITS – that is all they are concerned about.
Computerization revolutionized the world resulting in globalization. We’ve crossed the rubicon. No way to get back.
